The EU objectives for the decarbonisation of maritime transport and EMSA contribution

The European Green Agenda for maritime transport is very ambitious. Coordinated, committed and concrete actions will be needed to meet the objective of carbon neutrality in Europe by 2050. Following the adoption of the “Fit for 55” Package, new legislation is now in place, that include elements affecting directly shipping. EMSA is at the side of the European Commission and the EU Member States, to facilitate and support the implementation of the extension of the ETS to maritime transport and of the FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
