THURSDAY 16 OCTOBER
2:30 - 4:30 pm
Scirocco Room - Congress Center Porto Antico of Genoa
Ports and economies: connections, integration, production
The role of ports in the local, national and transnational economic system, recognized by legislative measures such as the establishment of special economic zones and simplified logistical districts, is crucial to the productive development of the affected areas. Surviving in a strictly “transit” logistics environment, such as those related to transhipment and even, to a certain extent, related to gateways, is increasingly challenging and exposed to the winds of the market and international competition. Only by building a symbiosis with short- and medium-range industrial operations can ports secure their future. This requires administrative, technological and entrepreneurial interventions and innovations.
Main topics:
- Cooperation and production-logistics symbiosis
- Digital fast corridors and documental interoperability
- New technologies for ports-to-country connections
- Development of intermodality “without interruptions”
